Another Nintendo Switch 2 motherboard leak on Reddit matches previously released images of the Switch 2’s inner workings. In addition to the Nvidia GMLX30-R-A1, the board also shows 12GB of memory for the upcoming gaming console from Nintendo.
Samsung makes the Nvidia Tegra SoC
The Nvidia chip shown with the identifier “S TW 24 SNW8VF MOP GMLX30-R-A1” confirms previous rumors about Nvidia’s Tegra processor with Ampere GPU for the Switch 2. The “S” prefix indicates that Samsung’s processor could be manufactured, because in the past Nvidia used the prefix S for Samsung and P for TSMC. The SNW8VF name also indicates that the SoC is built in 8nm by Samsung Foundry.

Three times more memory in the Switch 2
Memory chips from SK Hynix with the designation H58GE6AK8BX104N are also clearly visible. These are LPDDR5 chips. Each chip offers 6 gigabytes, so based on the photos with two chips soldered, the Switch 2 will have 12 gigabytes of LPDDR5. If you compare this with the Switch 1, the Switch 2 has three times the memory.

No microSD, but a second USB-C port
The second USB-C port at the top of the console is also visible. However, what is no longer seen, even though all the ports are now installed, is a microSD card slot that can be used to expand the storage on the Switch 1. It remains to be seen if the Switch 2 will will rely on a cloud solution. Recent rumors once again spoke of a microSD card slot.

The problem of Joy-Con drift on the Switch 1, where worn controllers cause incorrect inputs, should be countered by new Hall effect sensors in the Joy-Cons.
Lots of rumors, no announcements
Even though numerous leaks have been released about the Nintendo Switch 2 over the past few months, which showed, among other things, the larger magnetic Joy-Cons, the changed position of the USB-C port and the larger screen, Nintendo continues to remain silent. So far, Nintendo has only officially revealed that all Switch 1 games will also work on the Switch 2 and that the new console will be presented no later than the end of March 2025.
Nintendo is rumored to announce the Switch 2 in a week’s time, on January 8, with a market launch planned for March.
