With Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, Naughty Dog has been working on a brand new game since 2020, which follows the prestigious Uncharted and The Last of Us game series from the studio. There is now a first trailer.

A new Naughty Dog universe

During the Game Awards, had already announced the PC port of The Last of Us Part II Remastered, but the developer Naughty Dog is represented twice at the event: at the very end of the show, a trailer announces surprisingly Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. It’s a new game with a completely new brand, following in the footsteps of Naughty Dog in Santa Monica after Crash Bandicoot, Jak & Daxter, Uncharted and The Last of Us. Following the adventures of Nathan Drake and a zombie apocalypse, the game travels thousands of years into the future and into space, where players step into the shoes of bounty hunter Jordan.

Intergalactic stars our new protagonist, Jordan A. Mun, a dangerous bounty hunter who finds himself stranded on Sempiria, a distant planet whose with the outside universe went dark hundreds of years ago. In fact, everyone who flew there in hopes of uncovering its mysterious past was never heard from again. Jordan will have to use all her skills and intelligence if she hopes to be the first person in over 600 years to leave orbit.

In the trailer, the protagonist goes on a journey to the planet Sempiria, where there is a price on her head and the other is threatened by unknown dangers. Apparently, the mysterious planet was cut off from the rest of the galaxy for centuries – and anyone who entered it was never seen again. What also stood out from the trailer: product placements from Porsche, Adidas and of course Sony itself.

Naugthy Dog promises proven virtues

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet is once again created under the aegis of creative director Neil Druckmann. For the soundtrack, Naughty Dog collaborates with composers and music producers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross. Otherwise, the developers and publisher Sony hold back and rely on superlatives: the new game tells “the craziest and most creative story to date” from Naughty Dogs, but it is created in the tradition of The studio’s “epic and emotional stories”, with an emphasis on strong character stories. There’s also talk of Naughty Dog’s “deepest gameplay” to date; the studio wants to build on the experiences of previous and has exceeded these standards.

However, there are no details and Sony has yet to announce a release date. Since Naughty Dog has been working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet for over four years, the game will have already reached an advanced stage of development, so a 2025 release is at least not unthinkable.
