The market for mobile such as the Steam Deck is growing in popularity and docking stations that connect handhelds to the home monitor, for example, are not new. With the Razer Handheld Dock Chroma, Razer now also offers a suitable docking station with lighting and RGB connections.

The portable dock is also suitable for , or portable consoles such as the Steam Dock, ROG Ally, MSI Claw or Lenovo Legion Go. It has a USB-C input that powers both the dock and the device connected to energy via Power Delivery. A permanently integrated 21cm long angled USB-C cable connects the docking station to the handheld. According to Razer, up to 100 watts can be transmitted in this way. There is also a Gigabit Ethernet port, an HDMI 2.0 port up to 4K60 and three USB-A ports of 5 Gbps each for connecting the dock to the network, the monitor and peripherals such as mouse and keyboard .

Aluminum dock with hinge

The dock has a movable hinge to adjust the angle of the handheld in the dock and make the dock easier to carry. When folded, it measures only 2.9 cm in height, approximately 13.3 cm in width and 8.9 cm in depth. The dock is made of aluminum and therefore weighs 290 grams.

Chroma RGB lighting

On the front edge, the Handheld Dock Chroma features an RGB bar with Razer’s eponymous Chroma technology. If you have additional Chroma-compatible devices, the lighting can be synchronized with them. The lighting can also be controlled manually using a button on the side of the dock.

Pricing and availability

The Razer Handheld Dock Chroma can now be pre-ordered from Razer at the recommended retail price of 89.99 euros. Delivery and in-store availability is expected to begin on January 20. Razer offers a two-year warranty on the Chroma Portable Dock.

This makes the Razer Handheld Dock Chroma significantly more expensive than, for example, the Ugreen Steam Deck Dock, which does not offer RGB lighting but is generally available on for less than 30 euros*.
