AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D: Mindfactory sells a 9800X3D every two and a half minutes 99 comments

Since January 1, Mindfactory has continuously published sales figures for the Ryzen 7 9800X3D, which is relatively well available there. The meter says: The fastest gaming processor is selling extremely well, even at prices well above the suggested price.
A hot bun called 9800X3D
The Ryzen 7 9800X3D (review) went on sale over two months ago, on November 6, 2024. Availability has improved since then. At the same time, the processor is increasingly freeing itself from its recommended price: instead of 529 euros, as AMD announced during the market launch, the R7 9800X3D is currently only available from of 589 euros. Mindfactory is selling the processor at exactly this price after increasing the sale price several times.
What is particularly notable is the sales volume: Mindfactory probably sells the lion’s share of all Ryzen 7 9800X3Ds in German-speaking countries. At first, the retailer kept buyers and competitors in the dark about the exact numbers and simply shared photos of stacks and pallets of processors on social media. However, since the new year, Mindfactory has assigned a specific number on the product page. As of the evening of January 1, 2025, nearly 8,700 processors had already been sold. This morning, almost 10 days later, the counter now climbs to 14,160* CPUs sold.
A quick calculation shows: Mindfactory currently sells a Ryzen 7 9800X3D every two and a half minutes. Mindfactory customers will spend around 322,000 euros per day on the processor in the new year. AMD’s gaming specialist is a box office hit wherever it’s available.
Relaxation is not yet in sight
Other retailers can now also deliver from stock, but prices are generally higher than Mindfactory. It is not officially known whether this is probably due to more favorable conditions for AMD’s preferred mail order company. It is also questionable whether availability and pricing will become better or cheaper in the short term. It’s conceivable that the prospect of likely zero performance from the Ryzen 9 9900X3D and R9 9950X3D processors announced at CES will further fuel demand for the 8-core processor.
There is no alternative to this level of performance. Intel has nothing to oppose in the context of gaming. And the second predecessor, the Ryzen 7 7800X3D (test), has become more and more expensive since last fall, after being available for around 300 euros at the beginning of summer. It is currently available from 499 euros. The price development of the R9 7950X3D has also anticipated the market launch of the successor for months. It went from 500 euros vouchers to 679 euros currently.
