Microtransaction comedack: Blizzard brings back the 42 comment lotbox in Overwatch 2

Blizzard is bringing the Lootbox back to Overwatch 2. With Season 15, which begins on Friday, there will be Lootboxes again – and currently question marks. The return of the controversial microtransaktion is flanked by a new game mode, heroes and gameplay updates.
Players receive random skins and other cosmetic extras through boxes. However, the return of the Lootbox in Overwatch 2 still raises questions. These are rewards from weekly challenges and events as well as as part of the free and paid battle pass. Additionally, there is a simple, “legendary” version of the box with different drops that Blizzard opens. At least one “less common” item will be in each box, an “epic” after five boxes at the latest, a “legendary” distributed after 20 boxes at the latest.

It is currently unclear whether the new loot boxes are exclusively a reward for challenges and playing time or whether they further expand the offering in the already well-stocked in-game store; Blizzard doesn’t talk about this delicate point. It is more important because this type of microtranschaft moves close to the game, but is hardly subject to regulation.
Gameplay Changes
Game innovations in Season 15 include “leveling” the hero twice in the game. At each level-up, one of two upgrades can be chosen. The first time you can choose a small upgrade, the second time a larger one – Torbjorn can either hang his gun tower on walls and covers or can configure it in a much stronger form. This potentially creates more variety in gameplay, as new tactical options are possible.

During the season, as already promised, the 6v6 game mode celebrates a return. In Overwatch Classic: goats, three healers and three tanks can also be played again, which was a very controversial tactic too 1 time and should be understood as a nostalgic reference to those times.
The selection of heroes is completed by Freja, who fights with her crossbow. She can move across a dash, jump into the air, and put pressure on opponents with quick or slow, aimed shots.
Spring game mode
In the next season, which will begin in April, Overwatch 2 receives a new game mode. The stadium is played in a maximum of 7 rounds. The highlight is not only the newly introduced third-person perspective, but the opportunity to purchase between round skills for heroes that can completely redesign heroes. Blizzard, for example, calls it a “combat mercy” that makes the old age healer much more combat capable.
At least on Steam, the changes and innovations have so far had no effect. The reviews continue to go into the mostly negative zone. Broken promises, the demise of the predecessor without any notable innovation, and developing misconceptions are among other things to blame for the resentment.
