AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D: 5.5+ GHz on 3D-V-CACHE chiplet should be possible 33 comments
How high is the upcoming AMD Ryzen 9950x3D on the 8-core chiplet on which the additional L3 cache (3d-cache) is located? Still not as high as the conventional chiplet is a recent rumor. And its basis is now tangible experiments with the CPU.

With an L3 cache module moved below the CPU Chiplet, AMD was able to raise the chiplet clock for the Ryzen 7 9800x3D (test) because the memory module no longer acted as an insulator between the CPU cores and heat prereaders. 5.2 GHz instead of old 5.0 GHz was possible at lower temperatures, only 100 MHz less than on the 8-core Ryzen 7 9700X processor.
On the new Ryzen 9 with the x3D cache it goes even further. 5.7 GHz, which was possible on the classic Chiplet at AMD Ryzen 7950X and 7950X3D, is also not on the new Top Model Ryzen 9 9950X3D. On the contrary, the clock offset with 5.5 GHz should be roughly halved compared to the predecessor. Yes, depending on the processor this clock could also be easily exceeded.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D will be released in early March
The new Ryzen 9 with x3D cache, the Ryzen 9 9950x3d with 8 + 8 cores and the Ryzen 9 9900x3d with 6 + 6 cores will be expected in early March.
