The PNY GEFORCE RTX 5080 OC is one of four RTX 5080s that PNY currently offers. There is always a non-OC model under the OC version, these two variants in turn with Argb lighting – the tested variant does not have. So far, only OC variants can be obtained in Germany.

Overclocked on paper
The PNY GeForce RTX 5080 OC comes with an official boost clock of 2,730 MHz, so it has been overclocked by 113 MHz. It will be a surprise in this test that there is no upper clock megahertz in practice. The TDP is 360 watts and therefore at the reference level. A maximum of 400 watts can be configured. It’s standard.

Compact cooler, one bios, no RGB
Compared to the large brachial variants Asus Rog Astral and MSI Suprim Soc, the variant from PNY is almost delicate, even if it still exceeds the Founders Edition with 33 centimeters and by no means a short graphics card. The cooling system is three slots thick.
Does this mean that the graphics card comes in loudly? No – and that is the second surprise of the test.
The optical appearance is not surprising, which does not look “cheap” given the absolute price, but given the relative market positioning. There is also only one BIOS and no Argb effect.
The 12V-2 × 6 is very difficult to reach
With the 12V-2 × 6 socket, PNY has a mistake: the socket is so far back that, especially if the thicker plug of the adapter is used at three times 8 pins, you can hardly put your finger on the small nose that contains the connection. Depending on the thickness of your own fingers, the resolution can be a painful affair.
Losing the power plug is not so simple
There are standard feeds for connections: three times DisplayPort 2.1 and once HDMI 2.1. The 3-plane design requires three free slots on the slot cover.

Test system and test methodology
In a departure from the known GPU Test System 2025, a new system has been configured for testing custom designs. During these heated weeks, it may be prevented from launching reviews of a new class and testing of custom designs gets in the way.
Custom design testing in another case
An AMD Ryzen 7 9800x3d (test) with DDR5-6000 is also in the custom design test system, but the case is completely different: instead of the Fractal Design Torrent, the Fractal Design Meshify 2 is used with six fans (two fronts (in wind tunnel), three in the lid (all others). 800 RPM, which is hard not to either.

The two available BIOS versions are tested in the test. A reference is made after 5 minutes. The reference result and measured values for temperatures, speeds, clock rates and consumption are then recorded.
