AMD Adrenaline 25.3.1: RX 9070 (XT) Driver, FSR 4, and AMD Chatbot 27 comments
The new driver package for AMD’s Radeon graphics cards is now out three months after the last update. Adrenaline 25.3.1 is the launch driver for the new Radeon RX 9070 and Radeon RX 9070 XT. Appropriately, it brings support for FSR 4 upscaling technology. There’s a chatbot on top of that.
For the RX 9070 (XT) and other innovations
The fact that the publication is made today is no coincidence, because today the Radeon RX 9070 and Radeon RX 9070 XT (test) officially started sales.
So it was high time to adapt the driver package for the first offshoots of the RDNA-4 generation. Additionally, optimizations for the chips listed below have been entered:

New features, especially FSR 4
FSR4
With the RDNA-4 architecture, a new generation of the FX Super Resolution (FSR) of the scaling technology implementation technology (FSR) is also integrated. However, FSR 4 is only supported by the new RX-9070 models. In addition, only 30 games have used FSR4. However, there is the option in the new driver to support FSR 3.1 an upgrade to FSR 4.
Fluid Motion Frames 2.1
Older graphics cards in the RX 6000 and RX 7000 APUS APUS Ryze AI 300 also receive support for AMD Fluid Motion Frames (AFMF) 2.1. This improves image quality when using frame generation.
AI Features with AMD Chat
New are the “AI Features”, which in turn are again reserved for the RX-9070 models. This includes the offline chat bot “AMD Chat”, which can also create images in addition to text. “AMD Image Inspector” is more of an aid for future driver updates, as this is intended to improve image quality in games using AMD diagnostic data.
AMD Installation Manager
A new installation manager is also moving in. This is not only used to configure graphics and chipset drivers, but also to install AMD Chat. Users can set the installation manager so that future updates are automatically installed.
Radeon 2 Image Sharpening
The new version of the “image sharpener” should work better and for more areas. Games and videos and the “entire desktop” can therefore be presented sharper, according to AMD. This feature is again reserved for the RX-9070 series.
Optimizations for split fiction and question point
Adrenaline 25.3.1 also has optimizations for new games. On the one hand, it is split fiction the “best Coop game” according to many opinions. On the other hand, there are adjustments for the hero shooter that appears in the morning.
More AI performance for Rx 7000
For the previous RDNA-3 generation, AMD promises the following performance improvements in AI applications with the new driver:
Up to 70% improvement in Adobe Lightroom AI improves details. Up to 13% improvement in Adobe Lightroom Denoise. Up to 40% improvement with Topaz Photo AI subtest. Up to 10% improvement in Davinci Resolve AI cases.
Additional innovations
The extended release notes (PDF) provide information on additional “highlights” of the new driver. These include some developer updates, ROCM for WSL, adaptations of some Hyper-RX profiles, and extension support for the Volcanic API.
Fixed and open errors
Error removed from list
HEVC encoding may not work as expected while using OBS Studio with Twitch enhanced streaming. An intermittent driver timeout or crash may be observed while playing Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 on certain AMD graphics products, such as the AMD Ryzen™ AI 9 HX 370.) Lower performance may be observed in the Delta Series on Radeon™ RX 7000 Series graphics products. Marvel Rivals when AMD FidelityFX™ Super Resolution 3 frame generation is enabled.
List of well-known, but even open, errors
An intermittent crash of AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition™ may be observed when playing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 or Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart with AMD Image Inspector enabled. Users experiencing this issue are recommended to disable AMD Image Inspector as a temporary workaround. Better than expected performance may be observed when using YouTube on the Microsoft Edge web browser immediately after installing a driver. Users experiencing this issue are recommended to restart Microsoft Edge and relaunch YouTube as a temporary workaround. 3rd party tools that rely on our ADL SDK to detect ROPS Count. Products.AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition™ may not accurately report AMD FSR 4 Activation for Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Stronger than expected performance may be observed when playing Assetto Corsa series graphics products. May be observed in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle when settings are set to “Very Ultimate”. Users experiencing this issue are recommended to use the default ray tracing settings as a temporary workaround. After using the AMD Cleanup Utility for Windows®, the AMD Bug Reporting Tool may appear intermittently during a new driver installation on AMD Ryzen™ 7000 and above series processors paired with AMD graphics products.
