Kingston has also embraced the PCIe 5.0 era and now offers the DC3000ME Enterprise SSD with the fast interface. High throughput of up to 14 GB/s and 2.8 million IOPS are combined with low latency, true power-down protection, and up to 15 TB of storage space.

In the classic 2.5-inch enclosure of the DC3000ME, Kingston, according to its own information, has packed enterprise-class TLC-NAND (ETLC), which, depending on the model, can accommodate 3.84 TB, 7.68 TB, or 15.36 TB. All three models are expected to achieve 14 GB/s sequential read speeds, which only the PCIe 5.0 X4 interface allows. Write speeds are lower at 5.8 to 10 GB/s.

The 7.68 TB variant achieves the highest performance, which also offers the highest PIO of 2.8 million reads and 500,000 writes. Latency is expected to be less than 10 µs reads and 70 µs writes.

Powerless protection with capacitors for data in the event of a power outage is included in the enterprise-grade equipment for data centers, and the AE 256-bit and TCG OPAL 2.0 standards are also supported. The data carriers are designed for 1 DWPD (drive write per day), which translates to TBW values of approximately 7 petabytes, 14 PB, and 28 PB with a 5-year warranty. However, power consumption is also relatively high, at a hefty 8 watts, reaching up to 24 watts when writing.

Database Name Details

There is no further information on the technology used in Kingston’s datasheet. It delivers (initially unconfirmed) an SSD. According to the datasheet, it uses the large MV-SS1333 from Marvell’s Bravera family as a controller. The chip has 11 cores and 16 NAND channels. A separate DRAM cache is defined. The flash memory is said to be B58R with 232 layers.

The main components would therefore correspond to those of the Pblaze 7 memory, which the datasheet promises a touch more power.

Price and Availability

The Kingston DC300me has already arrived in stores. At the Proshop dealership, it is offered at prices ranging from approximately €790 to €2,580. Delivery time is only a few days.
