ASUS has expanded its VU series eye care lineup. The two familiar 24- and 27-inch models from last year’s release are getting a successor. A completely new 34-inch model is also available. ASUS is adding an airflow to all new editions to improve air quality.

Focus on ergonomics and the new air ionizer

In the VU series, ASUS is placing special emphasis on ergonomics and eye-friendly features, something that was already the case with last year’s model, and changes with the 2025 models. Technical innovations, such as higher resolutions or higher refresh rates, are sought after in vain, but the highlight should be an airflow on all models that is intended to improve air quality. The room size the ionizer is suitable for remains as open as the question of additional energy consumption. An air ionizer releases negatively charged ions, which attach to positively charged particles, such as dust or pollen, that fall to the ground. As AOK Health magazine writes, ionizers can also inactivate bacteria and viruses. However, ozone can occur, which in turn is harmful to health, which is why air ionizers are not undisputed. AOK advises checking the ‘s information on whether the ionizer can generate air; this information is missing from ASUS.

Last Year’s Hardware

The technology of the smaller versions has changed little; it was or is identical for both model series. This includes Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080) with 100 Hz, 8-bit color depth, and a 5 ms response time (GTG). While the previous year’s models were available in various housing colors, the two new models are only available in white. The only innovation in 2025 is a USB-C connection with the DisplayPort.

The 34-inch model, which has no predecessor, is truly new. A VA panel with a 21:9 aspect ratio, a resolution of 3440 × 1440 pixels and a maximum fast-frequency clock of 100 Hz, is available. The display has a curvature of 1500r. Asus Eye Care VU34WCIP-W

Packaging can be misused

The original concept is that the entire packaging of monitors can be reused, the keyword being upcycling. For example, the packaging of smaller models can be folded into a smartphone holder, desk organizer, and small laptop stand. The packaging is made from 100% recycled materials.

The packaging of the larger 34-inch model can also be folded into a storage compartment for storing documents. The laptop and smartphone holder stands are also designed to promote ergonomics in the workplace and, for example, alleviate or prevent neck problems.

Price and Availability The 24-inch VU249HFI-W model is already available from several retailers and currently costs €149. The predecessor model without an air ionizer and without USB-C with DisplayPort is also available, but costs at least €10 more.

The 27-inch VU279HFI-W costs €178. The previous model costs the same.

The new 34-inch version with a 21:9 curved display and modern resolution is not yet available. ASUS promises availability at €450 by the end of March. Regarding the display hardware on offer, there are sometimes much cheaper monitors from other manufacturers, such as the GS34WQC model, which costs only half as much.
