PlayStation 5: Sony raises PS5 price from €50 to €500 in 135 comments

Sony has once again raised the price of the PlayStation 5, citing economic challenges, inflation, and currency fluctuations as the reasons. The adjustment only affects the PS5 Digital Edition, which now costs €499.99 instead of €449.99 (RRP). The console originally launched for €399.99.
The UK, Australia, and New Zealand are also affected by the price adjustment on April 14, in addition to Europe. While Sony in Europe and the UK only adjusted the price of the PS5 without a Blu-ray drive digitally, the price of the variant with a drive has also been adjusted upwards in Australia and New Zealand. Other countries in the Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region are also affected by the measure, but Sony has not provided a specific price.
The PS5 costs 25% more since its market launch.
This is the second price increase since the console’s market launch in November 2020. In August 2022, Sony increased the price of the PlayStation 5 with and without a controller, bringing the price to €549.99 instead of €449.99 without a controller.

In the official Sony store, the PS5 Digital can at least be found at its old price. There, you can also find a discounted Astro Bot console and game bundle for €399.99. However, the player is also listed in the store at the old, higher price of €119.99, so the implementation of the various price adjustments should only be a matter of time.
PS5 Pro remains at €800
The PlayStation 5 Pro remains unchanged, with an RRP of €799.99.
