In fact, Lords of the Fallen, like Souls of the Fallen (tests), had long been thought to be on the path to oblivion. A surprising giant update to Version 2.0 now promotes the game to the Definitive Edition thanks to an improved co-op mode and numerous gameplay improvements. A friend can play with them for free.
New Co-op Focus with Friends Option
In addition to the normal co-op mode, Version 2.0 is a fully cooperative game in which game progress is shared. The prerequisite is that both players are in the same game mode and have defeated the same number of boss opponents with a tolerance of one. In addition to a buddy feature, a friend can also be joined. Both players can then cheer each other up, collecting “Vigor” and the Bag of Prey, which are distributed individually to each player.
The feature also supports cross-play and has a “friends option.” Via the “Friends Pass,” a second player can be invited to co-opt the game across all platforms, even if they haven’t purchased Lords of the Fallen. In this friends version, the tutorial area can also be played alone. This version can be downloaded, for example, via the Steam product page, where the full version is still available until May 1st for around 20 euros.

Polished gameplay
Additionally, CI Games has also tweaked the reboot’s gameplay. Combat and movement should now be more straightforward, with cleaner dodging and the lock-on function better. This also affects the feedback. The developers note that the movement animations and the hit acoustic feedback have also been improved.
Version 2.0 is also available. At the push of a button, you can jump without sprinting ahead; in the future, the protagonist’s lamp will also point the way to the next storage point. The fact that the user interface is also clearer and the character editor with more options is almost a detail, such as the promise of an improved tutorial and a guide for searching game references.
Constant Improvement Works
The game now lives up to the “original vision,” and thanks to numerous feedback, the developers are moving forward with the update. The reboot of the 2013 game was met with moderate enthusiasm at first. The fine grinding is lacking, especially in the second half, and it has been said that the battles would be unnecessarily long—a point also mentioned by Steam critics since March. However, the constant development is paying off and is proving successful, as the ratings are now “largely positive” on average over the past 30 days.
