Cougar Omnyx: Here, the graphics card is vertically in the slot

Cougar places the graphics card vertically in the Omnyx. The case can also be installed in three different ways thanks to its symmetrical structure and effectively hidden cables—even those leading out of the tower.

Cougar itself refers to the “omnidirectional” range of the Omnyx. Whether the new slot is configured to the left, right, or along the user’s side doesn’t —it can be redesigned accordingly, including using a slide-out I/O module. Cables can be discreet. Cougar goes beyond simply supporting main boards with rear connections.

To achieve this, the main board is rotated 90 degrees so that the connections point downward. Cables can be routed along the base of the Omnyx and then to the rear or side. According to the manual, Cougar even goes so far as to connect the I/O panel to the motherboard’s external ports, meaning its cable can remain invisible within the base module.

Another advantage of this orientation: Cougar can surprisingly position the graphics card without a riser module. It protrudes like a tower, along with its fans, depending on the placement orientation, to the side or toward the front.

This should affect ventilation: the GPU can be cooled directly from both sides, Cougar writes. For this purpose, two 160 mm fans with Argb LEDs and a PWM control range of 300 to 1,200 rpm are installed at the front and rear. The fact that obstructs the airflow, as claimed on the product page, can be seen in this context.

Three additional fans can also be placed on the right side via the main panel. The fan is controlled via an integrated fan hub for a maximum of six. To mount radiators up to 360 mm on the side and 280 mm on the front and rear, a separate bracket is required, at least in some areas. It is currently unknown which ones.

According to Cougar, the Omnix should be released at a retail price of around $140. In addition to the housing, other decorative panels should also be offered in various designs. The wood and stone variants, as well as those with fabric covers, are shown in the images. Prices for are still unknown.
