Huawei Matepad Pro 12.2 (2025): The Tandem Tablet Gets More Power with Kirin T92

In addition to the Freebuds 6, the Huawei Watch 5, and the Huawei Watch Fit 4 Pro and Fit 4, Huawei also unveiled an updated version of the tandem OLED tablet with a paper mat display and weighing just around 500 grams, the Matepad Pro 12.2 (2025).

Lightweight, Fast, and Matte OLED Tandem

With a paper mat display with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz, a brightness of 2,000 cd/m², 2800 × 1,840 pixels, and a matte , this looks like Huawei’s late summer version (review). The case also remains slim at 5.5 mm. Matepad Pro 12.2 (2025) Review

The 508-gram weight is almost the same as last year’s 512-gram model, although it hasn’t yet been confirmed whether the version not available in Germany weighs 508 grams without the PaperPad display, while the PaperPad model returns to 512 grams. At first glance, the Glide Keyboard with charging is also used for the M-PeCil, which can once again be used for writing, drawing, and painting on the display. Matepad Pro 12.2 (2025) Review

With the camera, Huawei is not only building on the design of the Matepad Pro 13.2, as the Matepad Pro 12.2 also shares the camera sensors of the larger model. The Matepad Pro 12.2, like the Matepad Pro 13.2, will offer a 50-megapixel main camera, while the Matepad Pro 12.2 (2024) still uses a 13-megapixel camera.

Faster Kirin T92

As Techastuce discovered at the Berlin event, this year’s 12.2-inch Matepad Pro will rely on the Kirin T92, which Huawei also uses in the larger Matepad Pro (review). Last year’s model still uses the Kirin T91, which pairs eight CPU cores (12 threads) with the Maleoon 910 GPU. The Kirin T92 eight newer cores with SMT and thus also 12 virtual CPU cores (Taishan Big and Taishan Mid with SMT) and relies on the faster Maleoon 920 GPU. The Matepad Pro 12.2 (2025) thus promises performance on par with the Matepad Pro 13.2. In particular, the read clock speeds of the Matepad Pro 12.2 demo models should still be viewed with caution, as they are not final and may change before sales begin.
