Asus ROG Harpe II Ace & Falcata: New Feather Light Mouse and Ergo Keyboard for Gamers

For gamers, Asus says, with the ROG Harpe II Ace, the RoG Falcata presents a keyboard with a split layout and an improved room effect button. The keypad is split in half, allowing it to be positioned separately and thus more ergonomic—an Ergo keyboard for gamers.

Harpe II Ace: New Feather Light Mouse

Faster, better, and easier, the ROG Harpe II Ace belongs to the category of particularly lightweight for right-handed mice, with a symmetrical mouse body (126 × 64 × 40 mm), which is comfortable for the fingertips and claw grip. The mouse weighs only 48 grams. The new material should also contribute: the chassis is made of a nylon composite, which should be lighter and stiffer than plastic.

Data is transmitted via cable and radio at a maximum of 8,000 Hz. Under the hood, there’s a new microcontroller and a 42,000 DPI sensor, which Asus is already installing in other mice. Starting in July, the mouse should be available in stores for around 180 euros.

The Falcata is the Ergo keyboard for gamers

The Falcata relies on a compact 75% layout, but shares the key field. It adopts the concept of Ergo keyboards. The advantage here is that the two halves of the keyboard can be folded together to leave the hands in a more natural position when typing.

ASUS is now trying to implement this idea for gamers. This can already be seen in the product images: only the left part of the Falcata is next to a mouse, so the right is optional. As a result, the distance between the two input devices can be reduced even further than with a 60% keyboard. The two halves of the Falcata are connected by a cable, and the keyboard itself transmits data via cable, radio (maximum 8,000 Hz) and Bluetooth. There is also a scroll wheel to the left of the keypad. Here, you can select, among other things, the audio strength or button sensitivity.

The gaming ambitions also reveal the buttons. ASUS installs Hall Effect buttons with low spring resistance, which weigh between 32 and 49 grams. ASUS shortens the hub to 3.5 millimeters; the release point can be adjusted in 0.01 mm increments over the entire travel. This allows for larger magnets that ensure more precise detection—a step recently announced. A new pad design reduces key clearance and feedback, Asus writes, making it even more impressive, even when it’s impressive. Two layers of silicone and Poron dampen spring noise and attacks.

Falcata should be available in stores starting in July. However, the price is everything: ASUS is recommending a price of around €400.
