Power supplies with up to 3.3 kW: Manufacturers competing for the top performance crown

At the Computex 2025 manufacturer’s fair, the limit of what’s feasible is reached with power supplies with an output power of up to 3.3 kW. The Leadex Platinum should be able to deliver this much, but only when operating on a 230 V network. This isn’t expected until 2026.

Although the top model in the Leadex Platinum series for use in AI supercomputers is lined up, Super Flower is targeting the gaming division with the FP Combat 3000W, which makes high performance seem rather unnecessary here. Both power supplies are awarded the CyBenetics Platinum certification. XPG Power Supply by Jensen Huang

XPG, on the other hand, is moving to the top of the format and equips the Pymcore Platinum 1000W with three 12V-2×6 ports and receives the signature of Jensen Huang for the show model on computex. The series is rounded off with a 750 and 850 watt model, which are certified after 80plus Gold instead of 80plus Platinum.

With the Platimax II, announces a successor to the well-known 80Plus Platinum series. This is headed by the Platimax II 2400DF, which with its four 12V-2×6 ports should be ideal for AI workstations. Its 140 mm dual ball bearing fan should shut off at partial load and be able to free the power supply from the well-known dust mode. The Platimax II 1600DF has only two 12V-2×6 plugs, but shares the same housing with a depth of only 18 cm. Among them, there must also be variants with 850, 1000 and 1200 watts, which are only 15 cm deep.

Following the debut of the high-end Mega Ti series, FSP is launching other high-end power supplies with the “Mega PM” and “Mega GM,” the namesakes of which are derived from 80Plus Platinum or Gold certification. The Mega PM comes in 1,650 and 1,350 W and two 12V-2×6 connectors. The Mega GM has only one and will be available in 1,200, 1,000, and 850 W.

Lian Li’s Digital Flagship

Lian Li’s flagship product will be called the DWS1600P in the future and will offer a digital interface for real-time monitoring of power consumption, temperature, and system load. Efficiency is based on the Platinum standard. These include two models from the RS series with Gold Edge efficiency, rated at 1,000 and 1,200 W. These, like the Gold Edge, are expected to have a removable hub and their 24-pin connector is accessible from the side.

Lian Li also the RB series’ native input power supply, but only in the 750 and 650 W classes—the 550-watt model has to do without. In the SP-SP power supplies, the manufacturer promises optimized airflow in compact systems with an angled 24-pin connector.
