Be quiet! Power supply: The Pure Power 13M is semi-passive and single rail 59 comments
The Pure Power 12m has been one of the workhorses of the power supply segment from the German manufacturer. It’s now getting an update with the 13th generation, which initially looks modest from the outside—but a lot is happening under the hood.
The fan can now take a break
The first innovation of the Quiet! Pure Power 13m compared to its predecessor concerns the fan. While the 12m always operated continuously, the propeller of the new iteration can also remain stationary at low loads. Just a few months ago, the manufacturer’s new electrical range 2 paved the way for this; it is the first semi-passive power supply from the company based in the German Glinde region. Multi-rail and 1,200 watts were once upon a time
The second and more significant change affects the topology of the power supply. While the Pure Power 12M was always designed as a multi-rail power supply, the successor, the 13M, now does everything on a single 12V rail. Thus, the underlying design of the power supply has completely changed, shut up! This follows a market trend that has been emerging for years, which is increasingly moving towards single-rail designs. Here too, the Power Zone 2 was the pioneer.
80+ gold and certified cybernetics
Like its predecessor, the Quiet! Pure Power 13M uses a native 12V-2×6 cable to connect current graphics cards, thus meeting the ATX 3.1 standard. In terms of efficiency, the power supply is certified with 80 Plus Gold and Cybernetic Gold. The Pure Power 13M is a fully modular power supply; all cables are removable. The manufacturer has not announced a Pure Power 13 (without M) as a partially modular power supply.
When looking at the rated performance of the announced models in the series, it is striking that the 1,200-watt model, still available in the previous generation, has been canceled. Apparently, being quiet! There is no longer any market for such a large power supply with the equipment of a Pure Power position in the lower middle class. The corresponding rated services can now only be found in Power Zone 2, Straight Power, and Dark Power (Pro).
Price and Availability
It’s quiet! Pure Power 13M is expected to be available on the market starting in June. Prices can be found in the following table. The manufacturer provides a 10-year warranty on the power supplies.
