Summer Game Fest 2025: A weekend full of gaming showcases begins on June 6th

This year, too, Summer Game Fest will follow in the virtual footsteps of E3. It begins in almost four weeks on Friday evening: on June 6th, 2025, the gaming event kicks off with a live grand opening, followed by numerous other shows over the following days until the start of the new week.

Déjà vu? E3 has finally been canceled this year, and as a self-proclaimed replacement, Summer Game Fest is firmly ready for early June. On June 6th, Game Fest 2025 officially kicked off at 11:00 PM with a two-hour livestream, during which moderator Geoff Keighley showcased new trailers, gameplay demos, and other announcements about upcoming Triple-A games. The keyword, which is a word of effort to the extent, is likely to be “world premiere” again this year.
This will be followed by numerous other presentations from publishers and participating organizations over the weekend, and experience has shown that Monday and Tuesday often encounter a genre or platform with a clear focus. The independent non-profit Developers Day show was already announced Saturday morning at 1:00 AM, and Microsoft is also there. On Sunday, June 8th, an Xbox Games Showcase begins at 7:00 PM, which seamlessly transitions to a special format for The Outer Worlds 2.
Other events are not yet known, but will likely be announced in the coming weeks.

Many reasons led to the end of E3 since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic at the beginning of the decade, but one of them was summer gaming. As a counter-event away from the enormous flood of news surrounding the trade show, the live event for publishers and developers, which took place for the first time in May 2020, offered an increasingly attractive and also more common alternative to the established trade show, an exclusive presentation is due. In any case, purely virtual channels are playing a steadily increasing role in contextual gaming.
Online formats are advantageous for companies, and costs can be reduced this way, and critical inquiries and reports from players and journalists can be referred on-site. An advertising stream aimed directly at consumers replaces a trade show, whose content is experienced by visitors and processed and classified by the trade press. And so Gamescom remains in Cologne as the largest and most important trade fair for international games specialists. The event will kick off on August 20, 2025.
