AVM’s new premium Fritz!Box model for customers with a copper cable connection, the Fritz!Box 7682, has arrived at retailers. Several online stores sell the new model (from 349 euros) and want to be able to deliver it in just a few days. In addition to Wi-Fi 7 and VDSL 300 Mbit/s, the Fritz!Box 7682 also supports G.Fast up to 1 Gbit/s.

With G.Fast for FTTB customers

Like VDSL, G.Fast transmits signals over conventional copper cable, but only over a short distance. G.Fast is therefore interesting for Fiber to the Building (FTTB) customers, i.e. mainly in collective buildings. The Fritz!Box 7690 does not offer this.

But even those who switch to fiber optics in the future should be able to use the power of this connection via a separate modem via the 2.5 gigabit WAN/LAN connection – in this case as with the 7690. The Fritz!Box 7960 offers also this connection.

However, the Fritz!Box 7682 is the first Fritz!Box to offer G.Fast capability with WLAN up to 5760 (Wi-Fi 7 5 GHz) + 1200 Mbps (2.4 GHz, Wi-Fi 6). united.

Typical consumption of 12 to 13 watts

The Fritz!Box 7682 also offers two 1 Gigabit network ports, one 2.5 Gigabit network port and one USB 2.0 Type A, two analog telephone ports and a DECT telephone system. AVM WLAN mesh is supported. What’s missing is the Zigbee gateway. AVM specifies the average power consumption between 12 and 13 watts.
