RDNA 4 graphics cards: PowerColor brings the Radeon RX 8000 to the new Reaper Series 205 comments
The new generation of Radeon graphics cards will arrive soon. AMD partner PowerColor is reportedly considering introducing a new series or brand for the Radeon RX 8000. After series like Hellhound and Red Devil, Reaper is in the starting blocks.
PowerColor Reaper-Serie starts with RX 8000
This is what the VideoCardz site reports, citing its “own sources”. The Reaper series graphics cards are planned for the market launch of the Radeon RX 8000, the first models of which are expected to be presented at CES 2025.
It remains to be seen exactly where the Reaper series will fit into PowerColor’s current portfolio. However, it is very likely that these are models from the RX 8800 and RX 8600 classes, both confirmed by an update entry in AMD’s ROCm development platform.
The report adds that four Reaper models are currently planned. The Radeon RX 8800 XT Reaper, Radeon RX 8800 Reaper, Radeon RX 8600
However, PowerColor sticks to the previous Hellhound and Red Devil series, so new models from the RX-8000 family can also be expected here.
Partners should present at CES
In early January, PowerColor is expected to announce the Reaper series at the CES 2025 electronics show in Las Vegas. Other manufacturers should also follow suit as soon as AMD presents the new generation of Radeon with the RDNA 4 architecture.
The new generation is expected to bring significant improvements, especially when it comes to ray tracing performance. It remains to be seen whether a Radeon RX 8800 XT will be able to compete with a GeForce RTX 4080, as recent rumors claimed. So far, AMD Radeon is well behind Nvidia GeForce in ray tracing benchmarks.
