Both Phison and Solidigm cross the 120TB mark for their new data center SSDs. From Solidigm this is the D5-P5336 with QLC-NAND and PCIe 4.0, which should be available at the beginning of 2025 with 122.88 TB. The Pascari D205V from Phison with 122.88 TB also has QLC , but Much higher throughput thanks to PCIe 5.0.

Solidigm D5-P5336 with 122 TB and PCIe 4.0

In summer 2023, Solidigm presented the D5-P5336 with up to 61.44 TB. At the time, this was the highest storage capacity for a PCIe SSD. Now Solidigm is stepping up and doubling the storage space to 122.88 TB. The memory will likely be 192-layer QLC NAND again.

Solidigm once again has the highest storage capacity, but Phison still has a say. More on this below.

Via PCIe 4.0 x4, the 122.88TB D5-P5336 should achieve a maximum of 7,400 MB/s sequential read and 3,200 MB/s sequential write. The maximum IOPS is 930,000 for random read and 25,000 for random write.

Consumes up to 84% less storage power in network attached storage (NAS) deployments compared to traditional hybrid hard drive (HDD) + TLC (tri-level cell) solutions; improves power density at the edge with 3.4 times more terabytes per watt. against 30 TB TLC; allows up to 4 petabytes of storage per rack unit; andIs designed by QLC pioneers, so it can be deployed with confidence. In addition to high storage density, the 122TB SSD is also expected to offer advantages over previous solutions in terms of power consumption. Solidigm talks about “3.4 × terabytes more per watt” compared to a 30TB TLC SSD. As a footnote reveals, this is the 6500 with 30.72TB.

Samples of the D5-P5336 should already be delivered to customers. The product page talks about regular availability in early 2025.

Capacity of 122 TB U.2 and E1.L available in early 2025.

Phison Pascari D205V with 122 TB and PCIe 5.0

Phison also has 122.88 TB of usable storage space. Thanks to PCIe 5.0, the SSD called Pascari D205V is even significantly faster. Up to 14.6 GB/s for sequential reads and 3,000 IOPS for random reads are promised. are read values that can rival high-end data center SSDs from other manufacturers. However, the D205V falls far behind when it comes to writing.

The high storage volume is achieved by memory chips with a currently highest capacity of 2 Tbit. It can only be the BiCS8 QLC Flash from Kioxia and Western Digital.
