3DMark Speed Way: Leaderboard with 45+ graphics cards (GeForce, Radeon, Arc) 127 comments
Techconseil tested more than 45 graphics cards, including the GeForce RTX 4090 and the Radeon RX 7900 XTX, using the 3DMark Steel Speed Way method. You can compare your own PC with the best list. It’s so simple that anyone can quickly run the benchmark.

3DMark Speed Way: The benchmark for payments at a glance
The 3DMark Benchmark Suite (download), which is essentially free, contains different benchmarks that test different scenarios of a gaming PC. At this point, it’s all about the 3DMark Speed Way, which checks throw performance of rays for DirectX 12 Ultimate on Windows 10 and Windows 11. Unlike Time Spy (references of more than 100 graphics cards) and Steel Nomad (references of more than 90 graphics cards), Speed Way is not free, but must be purchased separately for 4.99 euros or as a full version with all remaining tests for 33.99 euros can be purchased.
The 3DMark Speed Way tests the ray tracing performance of the graphics card and thus the current “top class” of PC graphics. This is generally very demanding for the test subjects, and there may also be significantly larger differences than usual between individual 3D accelerators and manufacturers Nvidia, AMD and Intel. The official system requirements are still low with Windows 10 or Windows 11, a graphics card with DirectX 12 Ultimate (from a GeForce RTX 2000 or Radeon RX 6000) without further information and 6 GB VRAM – but on a corresponding system , the benchmark will stutter significantly.
45+ Graphics Cards for 3DMark Speed Way
Techconseil tested over 45 graphics cards as part of the 3DMark Speed Way. In addition to almost all modern models like Nvidia GeForce, AMD Radeon and Intel Arc, also included are the first models with ray tracing support, i.e. from the GeForce RTX 2000 series.
GeForce RTX 4090 and Radeon RX 7900 XTX benchmark results
In the test, the currently fastest graphics card, the GeForce RTX 4090 (test), showed a speed score of 10,105 points. The model should be around there in another computer. Depending on the system, the points may be slightly lower or higher – the latter especially with an inherently overclocked custom design like the Asus GeForce RTX 4090 TUF OC (test).
AMD’s flagship Radeon RX 7900 XTX (test) is significantly slower at 6,134 points, a difference of 65%. This shows that AMD’s fastest graphics card currently cannot keep up with its Nvidia counterpart. But that’s not all, because unlike traditional raster graphics, AMD’s top model also lags behind Nvidia’s second fastest accelerator: the GeForce RTX 4080 Super is still 21% faster. Ultimately, the Radeon RX 7900 shows the biggest current problem of all Radeon graphics cards: with ray tracing graphics, the performance is clearly behind the GeForce models. Depending on the game, the distance is sometimes smaller, sometimes larger. In most modern titles, GeForce cards are a few points ahead of Radeon models.
The performance gap in 3DMark Speed Way differs by a few percentage points from what editors measured in a variety of games, and this continues into the mid-range. With just over 3,800 points, the Radeon RX 7800 The GeForce RTX 4070 Super (test) is 35% faster with 5,164 points.
All results are only a guideline; This is about where your own PC should end up with the same graphics card. If it doesn’t quite work, it might be okay if the rest of the computer is slower, for example. However, if the results differ significantly, there is probably a problem with the system. The Techconseil community should then be the right place to go.
The 3DMark Speed Way ranking will grow over time
Techtip will expand the benchmarks over time, in particular new graphics cards will be systematically included in the benchmarks. To keep an overview, the editorial team summarizes all changes made to the article in the form of a history at the bottom of the page.
Here you get the 3DMark Speed Way and this is how the benchmark works
If you want to run the benchmark yourself in order to compare your own PC with the editorial team’s test results, you first need the main program on Steam or Epic – it’s free. The Speed-Way test must then be purchased separately, which normally costs 4.99 euros, but is also occasionally available for sale (and sometimes for free). Alternatively, 3DMark can also be purchased as a complete package with many other tests, which normally costs 33.99 euros.
The “Benchmarks” tab should then be opened in the main 3DMark program and the “Speed Way” test should be selected. Then you need to click “Run” and that’s it. The test takes place in 2560 × 1440 pixels (WQHD).
Once the benchmark, which consists of a single test, is completed, the result you are looking for can be found in the “Speed Way Score” column.

Other benchmarks with 3DMark Time Spy and Steel Nomad
Speed Way is not the only 3DMark tested by Techoutil; Time Spy and Steel Nomad were also tested. Steel Nomad is a modern DirectX 12 test with high requirements aimed at high-end systems (from 2024), while Time Spy checks the speed of older or entry-level PCs with DirectX 12.

These are the PC requirements of 3DMark Speed Way
The 3DMark Speed Way is a DirectX 12 Ultimate benchmark and therefore ray tracing for fast gaming PCs, but the hardware requirements are still low (the test only stutters as a result). The required operating system is Windows 10 or Windows 11, and the graphics card simply needs to support DirectX 12 Ultimate – this is the case for a GeForce RTX 2000 and a Radeon RX 6000 or higher. Graphics card memory of at least 6 GB is also included, but this is not required to play the test.
Driver and test system information
The benchmarks for the first iteration of the article were carried out in June 2024; the graphics card drivers used were GeForce 555.85 (Nvidia), Adrenalin 24.5.1 (AMD) and 5534 (Intel). The latest graphics cards are of course tested with the corresponding latest drivers, although experience shows that this has no impact on 3DMark performance – the drivers have long been fully optimized for the benchmark tool .
The test system used also has no influence on 3DMark performance, as the Speed-Way test is purely limited to the GPU. Even with slow processors, the results do not change compared to tests with high-end processors. Windows 11 is used with HVCI memory protection enabled.
