4-slot design: Parts of a “Titan RTX” cooler on display at CES 49 comments

Two years ago, images made the rounds of an Nvidia Founders Edition of the RTX 4000 series, but one that was four slots wide and featured a vertically oriented PCB. The hypothesis was obvious: Nvidia will present the GeForce RTX 4090 Ti/Titan RTX Ada. But that never happened. There is now new information.
4-slot cooler with series designation for the first time
Since its first appearance in January 2023, there have been occasional images of this or a comparable prototype, but they have never shown a label that would have specifically revealed whether Nvidia was planning to tackle the segment GeForce RTX or Titan RTX with graphics card. ; and there was never a GeForce RTX 4090 Ti or Titan RTX “Ada Lovelace”.
The cooling system was even more surprising at CES 2025 last week, where the aluminum frame was emblazoned with “Titan RTX.”
Four-Slot Vertical Design Tested
Just a week ago, Gamers Nexus was testing a working 4-slot prototype. Its four-slot “narrow” card carried the GPU from the popular GeForce RTX 4090, so no full AD102 setup with maybe even 48GB of GDDR6. This one didn’t have a name either.
It is not yet known whether Nvidia really planned to release a GeForce RTX 4090 Ti or a Titan RTX Ada. It is also conceivable that the manufacturer simply experimented with new cooler and PCB designs and that these experiments ultimately resulted in the new design of the GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 Founders Edition.
