AMD Radeon RX 7650: GRE stands for “Great Radeon Edition” 48 comments for “Great Radeon Edition” this year
With the Radeon RX 7650 GRE, AMD presented a new RDNA-3 graphics card exclusively for the Chinese market, which ultimately corresponds to a slightly higher Radeon RX 7600 (test). It does not offer 16 GB GDDR6 like the Radeon RX 7600 XT (test). AMD was creative: GRE now stands for “Great Radeon Edition.”
No golden rabbit in the year of the snake
The first “GRE” was first in 2023 in China, but later also available in Germany Radeon RX 7950 GRE (test). GRE stood for “Golden Rabbit Edition”, AMD wanted to honor the Year of Rabbit, which was broken in the Chinese calendar in January 2023. The Year of Snake has been ongoing since January 29, 2025.
In order not to have to adapt the name “GRE” again for the special model in China, AMD has reinterpreted it according to a contribution on the Chinese Weibo platform: instead of “Golden Rabbit Edition”, GRE now stands for “Great Radeon Edition” – and should also live in the future.

Technically, the AMD Radeon RX 7650 GRE corresponds to the slightly higher clock, which goes hand in hand with a TDP, which increased by 5 watts, the Radeon RX 7600 with 8 GB. 2.7% is the theoretical higher computing power, in games there should be no more than a maximum of 2% more FPS.
