Android 16 Beta 2: New trial version improves camera, HDR and wallet 13 comments
As already promised yesterday, Google today released the second public beta of Android 16. Owners of a Pixel 6 smartphone can test the new version and report errors and problems to Google.
Android 16 Beta 2 brings the following innovations outside of error loops:
Hybrid Auto Exposure for Camera: Android 16 now supports Hybrid Auto Exposure for cameras through the Camera2 API. This allows third-party apps to control certain aspects of exposure, while the rest is left to the auto-exposure algorithm. With this feature, users can control auto exposure and ISO or exposure time and auto exposure. Color temperature and camera color adjustment: Fine adjustment to color temperature and color can make professional video recording applications more efficient. If apps are displayed edge to edge on the screen and developers cannot disable. After accessing relevant information, apps can dynamically change audio and video profiles to provide the best possible experience. Improvements in Live Background: With Android 16, a live background may present better if there is different or unique content for the Start screen than for the Lock screen. Unit system settings: Users can adapt the unit system (e.g. customs for length and °C for temperature) on your phone. Even if you set your phone language to English (USA), you can change the settings on your unit. Accept Live Photos: Android 16 supports a standard way to save and view Live Photos with the device’s camera. Press the power button on the wallet: Android 16 can start a mobile payment/wallet app by pressing the power button. For Pixel phones, the campaign can start the Google Wallet. Ultra-HDR improvements: with Android 14, Google Ultra HDR featured for taking photos and videos with larger dynamic area. With Android 16, the company is bringing improvements to Ultra HDR. It now supports the inclusion of ultra-HDR images in HEIC format. It was formerly limited to the JPG file format. Google is also working on AVIF file format support for ultra-HDR images. Android 16 also supports additional HDR settings, including the ability to adjust and call the color space. It also supports HDR images and SDR gain cards.
