Intel is planning Battlemage graphics cards offering 24 GB of graphics memory for 2025 and thus wishes to offer them to professional users. The first generation of Arc desktop graphics cards also included the Arc Pro series, but they didn’t offer more memory than the gaming models.
“Arc B580” with 24 GB of memory instead of 12?
Things might change now with Battlemage, as user X @harukaze5719 points out. According to a Chinese report that it retrieved, Intel is planning a 24 GB version which would then be explicitly aimed at professional users – Arc Pro 2.0?
The report doesn’t yet specify on what GPU basis this could be done, but user X @GawroskiT points out that two weeks ago he found entries for an Intel Arc B580 (test) with the rating “clamshell » in the shipping documents. So it could be a B580 variant with 24 GB of GDDR6 instead of 12 – a larger GPU does not currently exist.
The so-called clamshell process accommodates two 32-bit memory modules on a 32-bit memory controller and has been used more recently by Nvidia, for example in the GeForce RTX 4060 Ti with 16 GB of memory instead of 8.
Any hint on larger Battlemage variants?
It cannot be ruled out that behind the rumors there are already larger Battlemage graphics cards based on the BMG-G31 GPU, which Intel has neither confirmed nor denied to date. Like the BMG-G21-based B580, these models are also expected to increase memory from the predecessor’s (Arc A770 Limited Edition) maximum of 16 GB. In this case however, the latest rumors only spoke of a release in the third quarter of 2025.
Intel could take advantage of the CES 2025 press conference on January 6 to present the new Arc Pro series.
