Ubisoft has released patch 1.0.2 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows (in the benchmark test). The fix completes an auto-follow mode that keeps the player’s horse on the road, just like in Assassin’s Creed Origins. Driving speed has increased in urban areas. For Pro, PSSR and raytracing reflections are now available in balanced mode.

Relief for Operation

Fans of the series will already be familiar with this feature, but for Assassin’s Creed Shadows, it’s new: automatically follow the road. Players can follow the horse on their horse, just like in Assassin’s Creed Origins. This saves a lot of effort if you only need to cover a certain distance. Other titles such as Kingdom Come, Deliverance 2 (in the benchmark test) offer a similar feature. On the other hand, what shortens travel time is the increased driving speed in cities.

In the skill tree, there is now a reset button for entire nodes of mastered skills, so the player can correct wrong decisions or try a different playstyle. During action and dismantling, multiple items can now be selected from the inventory at the same time. To call the Investigation Committee, it is now sufficient to hold down the option button briefly, but the inventory opens briefly.

Many more detailed improvements

In addition to the new features, patch 1.0.2 contains a host of smaller improvements, bug fixes, and tweaks to options. PC players can now choose between Dynamic Super Resolution (DSR) and Hard Resolution, regardless of the upscaler quality. Minor issues when playing with a and keyboard have also been addressed.

Ubisoft lists six changes as significant improvements. In Performance Mode, the frame rate should no longer be limited to 30 fps in the hideout. Boss fight balancing has been improved. The route line should no longer appear in Photo Mode. Three other improvements address Naoes’ reactions, double attacks, and inconsistencies in combining certain perks and equipment.

The patch also addressed issues with controls, UI, sound, Photo Mode, balancing, and graphics. Quest bugs have also been fixed; with these, there’s always a risk of spoilers in the modifier, especially since Ubisoft announces them before technical improvements. All changes can be read in the official Ubisoft news.

Improvements for the PlayStation 5 Pro

Ubisoft is bringing two innovations to Sony’s most powerful console, the PlayStation 5 Pro. The Balanced mode, which must achieve 40 frames per second, receives ray-traced reflections so that the image quality is closer to the Quality mode. With this patch, the PS5 Pro title gains support for Spectral Super Resolution Scaling (PSSR). PSSR is an AI upscaler, Sony’s counterpart to DLSS, AMD’s FSR, or Intel’s Xess.

Download in a manageable size

Patch 1.0.2 for Assassin’s Creed Shadows is between 11 and 16 GB on PC. Mac OS X users only need to download 9 GB. On and Sony consoles, 19.5 GB, or approximately 11.6 GB, can be squeezed through the fiber optic cable.
