Blizzardcon has traditionally been held annually, although there have been some exceptions. Recently, however, Blizzard’s own in-house expo has often failed and has only been held as an online event during the coronavirus pandemic in 2021. The first Blizzcon appearance since November 2019 is planned for September 12-13, 2026.

First Blizzcon in 7 years

The last BlizzCon was held as an online event in 2021. Before that, Blizzard’s last in-house gaming expo was held at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, California, USA. According to Blizzard, the next BlizzCon will take place in late summer next year. On September 12-13, 2026, new , add-ons, and other Blizzard Entertainment news will once again be in Anaheim, likely at Blizzard’s now-sold Convention Center.

As usual for BlizzCon, Blizzard is promising not only panels and presentations for this 2026 trade show, but also esports events, teasers, competitions, and the Dark Moon Market.

We are developing this event like our games: with a deeply restless commitment to our players, with respect for your connection to our worlds, and as a testament to the strength of the team that comes from this shared adventure.

BlizzCon Review

BlizzCon has been held thirteen times as a suburban fair and once as an online event by Blizzard Entertainment since 2005. Finally, all tickets for the 26,000-seat Anaheim Convention Center have always been sold out. At the beginning of the first BlizzCon, there were 8,000 live spectators on site. Ticket prices have so far ranged from $100 to $230, and a ticket price for BlizzCon 2026 has yet to be announced.

Blizzard Entertainment has made a habit of announcing major news such as new games at BlizzCon. At the first BlizzCon in 2005, the first add-on for World of Warcraft, The Burning Crusade, was released. In the years that followed, Wrath of the Lich King, another WoW add-on, followed, and the announcement that StarCraft II was being created as a trilogy. The first part was playable in 2008, along with Diablo 3 and World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. Diablo IV, 2, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands, and a Hearthstone expansion were announced at BlizzCon 2019.
