In addition to Nintendo, where pre-orders (under certain conditions) are only possible from April 8th, Amazon, MediaMarkt, and Saturn already offer pre-orders for the Nintendo Switch 2 (presentation).

Amazon, MediaMarkt, and Saturn currently indicate (as of 3:04 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.) that they will be able to deliver pre-ordered consoles on the official release date. At MediaMarkt and Saturn, anyone can pre-order, but on Amazon, the Switch 2 is only “available by invitation,” which can be requested. Amazon chose this approach, according to its own statement, “to ensure that as many real customers as possible can purchase this item with high demand.” It is unclear what valuation basis Amazon uses to award invitations.

On Amazon, pre-ordered only by invitation: the Nintendo Switch 2

Owner of a Switch Online account that has been active for at least two years on March 31, 2025, and is still active on the day of the pre-order. But that’s not enough; the holder of such an account must also have spent “a certain amount of time” with Nintendo Switch games; the more, the greater the likelihood of an invitation. But even then, you’re not sure. This also requires approval of the account in the sections regarding usage information with Nintendo and the receipt of promotional emails and messages from Nintendo. The following also applies here: March 31 was already on the evaluation.

Only those who meet points 1 and 3 have—increasingly with the season mentioned below—an early invitation opportunity.
