On April 2nd, Nintendo will unveil the new Switch 2, following a first teaser in January as part of a Nintendo Direct event, which is known. According to a leak, the new console will be pre-ordered at the same time.

Canada’s Best Buy should have revealed this in a now-deleted blog post, which was saved as a screenshot.

The post did not yet contain further details or pricing. In addition to the final technical data, pricing is currently missing to be able to classify the new version.

This is known to date.

Nintendo released a first trailer in January. Under the title “ First Look Trailer,” the manufacturer outlined the evolution of the Nintendo Switch 1, with its 7-inch screen, to the Nintendo Switch 2, with a likely 8-inch display, in just under two and a half minutes. Nintendo not only enlarged the display, but also adapted the connectors, the Joy-Con controller, and the fold-out base on the back.

There was no official information on whether Nintendo would install an panel and analog sticks with Hall sensors, as rumors have suggested in recent months. The trailer, however, indicated that the new Joy-Con controllers are magnetically attached to the console.

Starting at 1:40, the trailer also showed a presumably new Mario Kart, which appears to have 24 vehicle spaces before the line starts.

Downward Compatibility

Nintendo has promised that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be able to play both Nintendo Switch Purely Digital and Memory Card games. “Some” games will not be “supported” or may not be fully “compatible.” April 2 should also provide clarity at this point.
