The debut game is making a strong debut in the gaming world
Sandfall Interactive, the developer studio founded in France in 2020, has launched its debut game, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, with publisher Kepler Interactive. Available on Steam and the Epic Games Store, as well as for the Xbox Series X|S, also included in Xbox Cloud Gaming and Game Pass, and for PlayStation 5, the single-player game is garnering excellent reviews across all platforms. The Steam reviews are particularly noteworthy: 92% of the more than 18,000 reviews are recommendations. The game also has a very high rating on Metacritic. Ultimately, the high sales figures are a positive consequence.
A Painter Paints Death
In a world set in the Belle Époque and fantasy style, a troupe is attempting something seemingly out of character: every year, a painter literally paints death on his monoliths. A magical number that wipes out those who are at that age. Moreover, the number is getting smaller every year and threatens to wipe out humanity one by one.
For one of the group, Gustave, this will be particularly rare, because tomorrow the painter will paint the 33 on the monoliths, and he knows that from tomorrow on, he will only have one year to live. Therefore, he and Maelle and her fellow explanatory members try to stop the painter. Although the mission seems impossible to break the vicious cycle of the painter’s death, this group could resist the mission together and ensure that the painter never paints death again.
Round Fighting and an Explorable Fantasy World
The World of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 uses elements of fantasy setting and the Belle Epoques and is also inhabited by surreal adversaries. The Forgotten Battlefield and the Isle of Faces are just a few locations that can be explored and keep secrets. With various companions, it is helpful to master different quests and find legendary creatures.
If it becomes dangerous, Gustave and his comrades must face monsters in the round-based combat. The fight is, though, interactive and expansive gameplay mechanics that circle around combat in real-time campaigns. Dodging, parrying, and countering, combos, and a “free-roam” system that targets your opponent’s weak points are all part of the real-time action. And with the right equipment and stats, skills, and character synergies, Gustave and his team are well equipped to carry out their expedition. Clearly Obscure: Expedition 33
