Blizzard has released patch 2.1.4 for the action role-playing game Diablo IV. In addition to a small number of bug fixes, there are also technical innovations for the PC version of the game. The game now supports the recently released Xess 2.0 features.
Xess Frame Generation and Low Latency are on board
Just one day after Intel published the SDK for Xess 2.0 on GitHub, Xess Frame Generation and the associated Xell low latency feature have found their way into Diablo IV’s graphics menu. The prerequisite for use is that the integrated graphics accelerator supports these features. This requires either an Arc graphics card from the Alchemist or Battlemaster generation, or an integrated graphics unit on an Intel Core Ultra 200 processor.
While XELL can also be used individually to improve latency, this does not apply to the use of Xess frame generation. “Fake frames” require XELL to be enabled, which is precisely in accordance with Intel’s documentation for Xess 2.0. This is similar to this competitive requirement: Nvidia‘s Reflex is also enabled to improve latency with DLSS (M)FG.
Besides integrating the new features, the patch only brings a few bug fixes.
