The Humble “Dice & Destiny” bundle includes complex classic role-playing games that elevate the old school genre: their ruleset is based on Dungeons & Dragons. However, the six titles cover a whole range of gameplay experiences.
Levels 1 and 2 are worth it.
The new bundle itself is “Old School”: it comes in three sizes. The first offers a lot of similarities: for €6.46, players receive Roadenden, a text-based role-playing game in which the action must be designed in their heads—and which is well-received by players on Steam.
In addition, the Humble Bundle includes the excellent Discotheque, which tells a great dark story in a dystopian world. Character development is actually meant here; based on their responses and actions, players develop beliefs and ideas. Also, the third Pillars of Eternity, Obsidians, the Kickstarter-funded CRPG that successfully brought the concept of classics like Baldur’s Gate into the modern age. This means that players have entire fighters who “roll” dice—which, of course, happens automatically in the background.
For 9.26 euros, buyers also receive Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire in the Obsidian Edition, which includes all DLC and expansions. Fans of the subgenre are having a blast with the extensive campaign, which confirms the high ratings on various portals. The next game is also a success. Citizen Sleeper sends players into the “ruins of interplanetary capitalism” to a space station, from which they must escape without financial means. This always presents exciting decisions and creates a captivating and highly appreciated adventure.
Level 3 is fun
However, paying at least 12.01 euros is only worth it to a limited extent. This releases the last game in the package, but the extra three euros brings a broken road. According to reviews on Steam, “Fallout Australia” scores with interesting approaches, but doesn’t seem to end in many ways. It therefore only earns “balanced” reviews. Gaming Forums
