Split Fiction is one of the first famous games of the year and holds the title of “the best Coop game”. The main reason for this is the courage to implement wild ideas with great creativity. Critics celebrate this.
Behind the split fiction, which comes from the makers of the cooperative coup, it takes two, is an unusual idea: two authors of the science fiction and fantasy genre are captured in their own worlds while a greedy company wants to suck up their ideas. They must escape together, sometimes into dystopian environments, sometimes from fairytale forests – always in a mix of platforming and puzzles. Possible creativity creates “the best Coop game” (Eurogamer), reviews write without further restrictions.
The Praise Tester
Split Fiction averages 91 out of a possible 100 points on Metacritic. Eurogamer celebrates the game for its ability to surprise more than ten hours to the finale with always new ideas, settings and gender integration, main tasks. Even the story is “masterfully” implemented. Despite the cooperative concept, split fiction benefits from the gaming experience, it is by no means very easy with the platforming.
It’s this creativity that also inspires Radar+ games. Split Fiction Assembly “More ideas for game mechanics and level design than others in a lifetime.” Working together between players also experiences the site as “constantly refreshing” that the net result is fiction divided into a “brilliant adventure”. Game Bolt or VGC are essentially no different, the poor rating here is created by higher story weighting. It is experienced as rather predictable and one-dimensional, which, however, is an exceptional assessment.
System requirements are average
Split Fiction can be played on the PC, Xbox series consoles, and PlayStation 5. Purchasers can invite another player to play through a “Friend Pass” who has not purchased the title-across platforms.
Computer requirements remain bearable on the PC. At least six computer seeds, 16 gigabytes of RAM and a very old mid-range graphics card are practically no requirements in 2025. However, they are only sufficient for 1080p and 30 frames per second. For a higher frame rate for more details and higher resolution, it needs to be much newer processors and graphics cards, although an RTX 3070 as a hardware recommendation no longer falls into the high-end category.
