At developer Direct 2025, ID Software gave a detailed overview of Doom: The Dark Ages. The Dark Ages becomes a Medival-Ego Sci-Fi Fantasy shooter with lots of weapons, hellish adversaries, Heavy Metal soundtrack, boss opponents and even a playable shuffle and flying kite.
Medieval style in the fight against hell
For Doom: The Dark Ages, the developers of ID software have announced new and very proven things. As is common for the Doom series, accompanied by a heavy metal soundtrack of finishing moves, on all sorts of different monsters from all hell pipes. The developers promise “ridiculously strong weapons”, which are presented in the video with many colorful effects and a lot of variety. The Dark Ages is a prequel to 2016’s Destiny. The story involves moving into a medieval-inspired science fiction fantasy world and that this time is only featured in cutscenes. The dry reading notes in the logbooks found could be omitted. So Doom: Dark Ages should be particularly suitable for the new series.
In addition to the large selection of weapons, there is also a shield saw that can be used to block and attack. The Slayer should play like an “iron tank”: strong, tough and yet fast. The game speed can be slowed down or speeded up in the options. In addition to the Shield Saw, the developers have also come up with new combos and upgrades and overhauled their glory kill system, which should now be completely controlled by the player. The player should be able to climb into a gigantic mech in order to fight against the huge monsters. A fire-breathing cybernetic dragon, which is equipped with a gatling gun and flies, can also be controlled.
Three editions of 80 euros

Paradise System Requirements
The system requirements for Doom: Dark Ages are less hellish and more fearsome. But a graphics card is explicitly disputed that supports Raytracing, but one after the other. The game needs 100 gigabytes of free space on an SSD. In full HD and low details, 60 frames per second should already be possible with a GeForce RTX 2060 Super or Radeon RX 6600. The CPU should then be a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-10700K and at least 16 GB of RAM should be in the main board. A GeForce RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6800 are recommended as the graphics card for high details at 1440p. A Ryzen 7 5700X or an Intel Core i7-12700K are registered in the processors. The RAM should be 32 GB. For Ultra HD at 60 fps with ultra settings, the requirements for RAM and CPU remain the same. With the graphics card, however, it should be either a GeForce RTX 4080 or Radeon RX 7900 XT.
