Funcom has released the system requirements for the survival MMO Dune: Awakening and introduced the technological features of the PC version. In addition, the creative director explains the business model: there will be no subscription fees. On the one hand, updates should be free, and on the other, they should be available as optional DLC.
Funcom explains the business model behind Dune: Awakening
With an MMO, there’s always the question of monetization; after all, the ongoing server costs must be covered. The creative director in charge explains in a short video how this is achieved with Dune: Awakening. First of all, there is no early access planned, as was the case with Conan Exiles. The full version is scheduled for release on May 20, 2025.
Instead of a subscription model, “optional DLCs” will support revenue in the future. However, free updates with new content, features, and expansions are planned in parallel.
System Requirements
Funcom has also revealed the system requirements for the PC version. Officially, a minimum resolution of 1080p and 30 fps is set, for which older 4-core processors like the AMD Ryzen 3 1200 or Intel Core i5-7400 are sufficient. Graphics cards with 6 GB of VRAM like the AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT, Intel ARC A380, or NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 should be sufficient. With a presumably smaller texture pack, a 60 GB SSD is required as a minimum. The other steps provide 75GB of storage space.
For 1080p at 60 fps, more modern processors and graphics cards are required. The listed AMD Ryzen 5 2600 and Intel i5-8600K each have 6 cores. The Radeon RX 6600 and GeForce RTX 2070 can already boast 8GB of VRAM for graphics cards, and the Intel Arc A770 even has 16GB. System support minimum medium medium high Ultra Settings 1080p, 30 fps 1080p, 60 fps 1440p, 60 fps 2160p, 60 fps CPU Intel i5-7400

The requirements increase significantly for the higher 1440p resolution at 60 fps. For CPUs, this should be a younger Intel Core i7-10700k with 8 cores or a Ryzen 5 5600X with 6 cores. High-end graphics cards in the form of the GeForce RTX 3070, Radeon RX 6700 XT, or Intel Arc B580 are also mentioned. With 4K Ultra graphics brilliance at 60 fps, CPUs take a small step up to the Core i7-11700K and Ryzen 7 5800X. Graphics cards must be of the second-youngest generation and have 12 GB of VRAM or more, as is the case with the GeForce RTX 4070 and Radeon RX 7800 XT.
With memory, the initial hurdle is as high as the optimum: 16 GB is recommended for all performance levels.
