The next Souls from From Software is called DuskBloods. The presentation is somewhat reminiscent of Bloodborne. It’s a multiplayer title in which “vampire Souls” fight against each other. However, DuskBloods will appear exclusively for the Switch 2 as a “PVPVE” game.

DuskBloods, which is expected to be released in 2026, was presented alongside the new Nintendo console with a trailer lasting over three minutes. It contains all the typical elements of From Software’s Souls : a menacing world full of alien creatures, a mysterious story, and a hunt for power. In the case of Duskbloods, “BloodSworn” seeks “first blood” through their special blood in online multiplayer, which is described as the heart of the game. There, up to eight players fight against each other and against the typically Souls enemies, which are advertised as a challenge. Among other things, the references to blood in the names indicate a good impact of vampirism.

Multiplayer won’t be a trend

Duskbloods looks like the next step for the software, as if single-player titles are moving towards a multiplayer variant of dark and heavy action RPGs. With Elden Ring Nightreign, which allows three players to fight beasts and beasts cooperatively, software will finally venture towards cooperative Souls for the first time this year. However, this isn’t the case, Hidetaka Miyazaki, the game’s director, assured in an interview on Nintendo’s website. The development of Duskbloods does not mean that the studio will now focus primarily on multiplayer titles.

The setting, Miyazaki revealed, is well chosen. In Duskbloods, blood strands are summoned from all eras and places so that they can fight for “first blood.” As a result, the Duskbloods can combine a range of styles and eras. Blood has a translatable meaning: it symbolizes history, power, and destiny.

The Duskbloods are playable characters, of which there must be more than 12. They enter battle in a world of lifting, in which rewards can be distributed and characters can be customized by players changing their “blood.” They become more agile compared to games. Miyazaki spoke of double jumps and firearms that each character can use. Sieg points determine the outcome of a match, which can be won not only through direct combat.
