The Raspberry Pi generated little power until the 4th generation; even older chargers were sufficient for stable operation. The Raspberry Pi 5 is more demanding and requires at least 5 A, or 25 W. Depending on the peripherals, this can also be scarce. The manufacturer now offers a 45 W power supply.
Support for Multiple Operating Modes
According to the manufacturer, the new power supply should ensure that a Raspberry Pi 5 can also be used reliably and stably when using more power-intensive peripherals such as hard drives or SSDs. Various operating modes are supported: 5.1 V at 5 A, 9 V at 5 A, 12 V at 3.75 A, 15 V at 3 A, and 20 V at 2.25 A, which also allows a Raspberry Pi 4 with its lower 5.1 V and 3 A output.
Various socket connections
To ensure the new power supply also fits into a standard household outlet, the Raspberry Pi Foundation provides the power supply with socket connections for types A, C, D, G, and I. The scope of delivery also includes a 1.5-meter cable. The power supply currently costs $15.
