The Longsys NFC PSSD uses Near Field Communication radio technology, which is used with smartphones for wireless payments or online identification functions. According to the manufacturer, NFC is now being used for authentication on a portable SSD for the first time. The Longsys NFC PSSD controller is called WM3000 and comes from Wisemem Microelectronic, a subsidiary of the Foresee company purchased by Longsys. The chip works with USB 3.2 Gen 2 10 Gbps. This would enable data transfer rates of around 1000 MB/s, but no information is provided.
The SSD is said to be available with storage capacities from 128GB to 4TB, but there is no information on availability or pricing.
Longsys bought the Lexar memory brand from Micron in September 2017. SSDs with Chinese components like the Lexar NM790 ( review ), also popular in this country, have recently hit the market under the new parent company.
