Codemasters presents the innovations of F1 25 through deep dive videos. The MyTeam mode has been revised. Lidar analyses of certain tracks and optical improvements should provide more realism. If you wish, as the eleventh team, you can complete Konnersports or APXGP and drive three courses in reverse.

Wasn’t F1 24 a good game?

The F1 Racing series has been developed by Codemasters since 2009 and has been under the patronage of EA Sports since F1 2021. As usual for games with the EA Sports label, the F1 series also appears annually. Reactions are mixed compared to F1 25’s predecessor. Nearly three-quarters of the reviews are positive on the store, with over 12,000 entries. On the other hand, there’s a mediocre metoscore of 72 points and a user score of only 4.8 points. Codemasters therefore has plenty of room for improvement for F1 25.

MyTeam Mode Has Been Heavily Rebuilt

In its first deep dive video for F1 25, Codemasters presents the all-out MyTeam mode. As usual, the player can lead a team in this mode while also taking the wheel. The player can decide individually for each race weekend which driver they want to drive for their two drivers.

The administration of the engineering area, the personnel, both team and driver, as well as finances and sponsors, as well as paint, is the player’s responsibility. The research and development area now allows for one driver to be favored. However, the second driver will recognize this with drawbacks. According to Codemasters, contract extensions should allow for negotiations with multiple drivers at the same time, although it has been noted that they should remain top drivers. The driver icon system has also reportedly been expanded; AI teams can now also hire former drivers such as Michael Schumacher or Ayrton Senna. An 11th team can be completed in both MyTeam mode and the Driver Career. The Konnenports story team and the APXGP team from the F1 movie starring Brad Pitt are available, however, the latter exclusively for buyers of the Iconic Edition. Both teams can be managed and developed as their own.

Scanned certain routes and with a back option

For F1 25, Codemasters promises not only optical improvements on PC, for example through path tracing, but also a more realistic implementation of the routes. To this end, the roads of Bahrain, Imola, Miami, Melbourne, and Suzuka were scanned using LiDAR. With this data, details on the asphalt or the height of tree rings, as well as the trees and leaves along the route, are said to have been implemented very closely to the original. Other optical improvements concern, for example, the race track surface or the display of brake pads. Three of the 24 race tracks can also be driven backwards in F1 25: Silverstone, Zandvoort, and the Red Bull . For all three, the developers also promise numerous detailed adjustments to the route posts, pit lane, braking point signs, and traffic lights so that the route adapts to the backward layout. For a more immersive feel, a VR is emulated during podium celebrations. Adding to the atmosphere is the creation of expanded team radio players, which have been supplemented by original driver votes and will also appear in qualifying. In F1 World, there are now co-op events and five categories for driver awards: winner, fastest lap, driver of the day, most overtaking maneuvers, and cleanest drivers.

The handling has reportedly been revised.

Formula 1 car handling and mobility have always been a bone of contention in the F1 series. In this iteration of Codemasters’ F1 series, improvements to handling and control are promised via GamePad or steering wheel. Additionally, tire wear and temperature management, as well as gearbox and engine power, are said to have been revised. In F1 25, aerodynamics are also expected to convey a better sense of “dirty air” when driving. Last but not least, the AI is expected to behave more intelligently and realistically. How the announced improvements will play out among players and the trade press will not be revealed until the end of May.

Codemasters F1 25 will be released on May 30, 2025, for PC on the Steam store, in the EA app, and in the Epic Games store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S | X. An overview of system requirements, game scope, and available game editions could be available as early as March.
