Find X8 Ultra: Oppo packs all the latest technology into its new flagship 44 comments

OPPO has presented the expansion phase of the Find X8 Pro (review) in China with the Find X8 Ultra, which combines virtually everything from current technology into a flagship smartphone. The focus is on the camera with four lenses and a fifth sensor for white balance. Oppo has gone all out in the processor and battery.
The Find X8 Ultra is now aimed at the Chinese market, where it costs 12GB/256GB, depending on the configuration and memory model, starting at €760. OPPO also offers the smartphone with 16GB/512GB for €840 and in a third special variant with 16GB/1TB and satellite communication for €960. Quad camera, but with five sensors
All three variants combine the rear camera, which is housed in a round, protruding element of the otherwise 8.78 mm thick smartphone. In this version, OPPO combines four sensors, each with 50 MP, and offers native focal lengths of 15, 23, 70, and 135 mm. The main camera uses a Sony sensor in the 1-inch class, while the two telephoto lenses rely on a periscope structure to achieve the focal lengths. In addition to the four conventional sensors, another is used for color recognition to support correct white balance in difficult lighting conditions.
Collaboration with Hasselblad
Oppo is once again working with Hasselblad to ensure the cameras incorporate their color adjustment and the look of professional cameras into the recordings. In video mode, the Find X8 Ultra supports up to 4k120, including Dolby Vision. Oppo Find X8 Ultra

The 76.8 x 163.1 x 8.78 mm smartphone features a 6.82-inch AMOLED LTPO display with a refresh rate of 1 to 120 Hz. The display is expected to reach 1,600 cd/m² in the mid-range and up to 2,500 cd/m² in the high-end. According to the spec sheet, OPPO is relying on its in-house development.
Snapdragon 8 Elite
Unlike the Find X8 Pro, which is based on the MediaTek Dimensity 9400, OPPO is installing Qualcomm’s current top model in the Find X8 Ultra with the Snapdragon 8 Elite. Unlike the Find N5, the full expansion with six Oryon-2 processor cores is used. OPPO provides the SoC with 12GB or 16GB of RAM, UFS 4.0 comes in 256GB or 512GB, and 1TB is even offered in the variant with satellite communication. Features such as Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 also come via the Qualcomm platform.
6100mAh Silicon Carbon Battery
The silicon carbon battery consists of two 3,050mAh cells, providing a total of 6,100mAh. The battery can be charged with up to 100 watts via USB-C, which corresponds to the 3.2 GEN 1 standard. 50 watts are still possible wirelessly, while reverse wireless charging is also supported with 10 watts.
Oppo offers the X8 Ultra in China in black, white, and (translated) “Morning Light” and ships with ColorOS 15.0 based on Android 15 without Google Services. There is still no information on availability in other markets.
