Foldable iPhone Rumors: Markt Launches in 2026 at $2,000 Comments $51
Rumors for Apple‘s First Foldable Are Getting Clearer: Apple is planning internally for the coming year with the unveiling of its first foldable iPhone to take on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold. However, the price is expected to be slightly higher, with creases less visible thanks to the liquid metal.
Foldable iPhone for $2,000
As Marc Gurman of Bloomberg reports, Apple continues to plan for a release next year. Apple’s first foldable is expected to be similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold, but according to Gurman’s sources, a less striking crease in the display. In terms of price, the new iPhone is expected to cost “around $2,000.” It would allegedly be more expensive than the just-mentioned Samsung Z Fold. The current Galaxy Z Fold 6 was unveiled last July, starting at $1,899 (compared to €1,999) with 256 GB of storage.
Liquid Metal in the Hinge
According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the first foldable iPhone should also use liquid metal in the hinge, minimizing creases in the display to keep it as flat as possible. According to Kuo, liquid metal has already been used in smaller components such as the SIM ejector pins.
Rumors at a Glance
The rumors for the foldable iPhone already paint a rough picture: as early as 2024, it was reported that Apple would consider the idea, if not the sale, of its first foldable iPhone in 2026. Kuo only postponed the timeline a few days ago; it should not be ready until 2027. He also suggested a price of $2,000 to $2,500. Presentation in 2026, publication in 2027?
In some ways, the rumors still contradict each other, but the thrust is the same: vote on the rumors, Apple’s plans are indeed internal, with a first foldable launch towards the end of 2026 for around $2,000. But the first foldable simply won’t be ready; the supply chain also needs to be in place. All these imponderables could ensure that Apple may ultimately miss its deadline. A September 2026 event with a delayed launch, like the iPhone X (review) or the first Apple Watch, would be conceivable.
