With the Fractal Design North XL RC, its iconic wooden case access is available for future generations of the Continental board, which are intended to rely on rear connections and thus ensure a tidy interior. However, only the housing branch with a glass pass-through is considered.

While other manufacturers primarily set the standard for the respective manufacturers’ upcoming new cases, Fractal Design takes a different path with the North XL RC and offers a revision to the already available Fractal Design North XL (review). The main board carrier has been revised so that main boards can be installed with rear connections. Manufacturers (Stealth), (BTF – Back to the Future), and (Project Zero) are supported in this area. However, an RC branch only receives the housing variant with a glass passport (TG). The version with one side of the hole grid closed is not considered by the revision, so only black and white housing colors and the associated accent and glass colors can be selected. Fractal Design names a detail recommended by the new RC models, as well as an announcement of availability.

Log in back only on the market

The desire for fewer cables on the computer is reinforced by an increased adventurousness of conductive glass parts, so the back concepts for the respective ideas have met with lively interest. Despite a variety of ideas, corresponding mainboards on the market have so far been rare. Regarding current consumer platforms, only two AM 5 mainboards and two Base-1851 mainboards are currently managed in the price comparison. MSI Project Zero: Main Boards with Rear Connections and Asus Back-to-the-Future (BTF) Widescreen Case: High-end graphics cards without cables will soon be available for purchase as BTF: Back-to-the-Future Continuous Board Connections for LGA 1851 and AM5 systems.
