With Dead Island 2 and Happy Game, the Epic Games store is inviting you to two shocks this week. The games can be added to your own library for free until May 22, 2025, at 5:00 PM. The only requirement is a store account.
Zombies, Splatter, and the
After players were given away mostly smaller indie titles from Epic’s weekly campaign in recent weeks, Dead Island 2 (review) has long been a well-known game. The sequel, released in 2023, continues the virtues that caused a sensation when the first part was released: a very splattered zombie shooter with a touch of wit and satire. The legacy property, in particular, put the game, along with the historical Dead Island sequel Riptid, on the back burner, so neither could be publicly announced until 2019 and easily accessible.
After its announcement at E3 2014, the game itself seemed long buried, with several developers pressing the handle in their hands over the years and finally succumbing to work on it. The survival shooter awoke from the dead just 12 years after the original title. The MetScore is 73/100 points, which coincides with the user score of 7.3/10 points.
