Almost three years after the Galaxy Xcover 6 Pro (review), Samsung is launching a new rugged smartphone with the Galaxy Xcover 7 Pro, designed for use in retail and logistics, on construction sites, or in maintenance systems. The battery can be replaced and there are seven years of updates. The price remains at 609 euros.
New processor from Qualcomm
Samsung is upgrading the smartphone from the Snapdragon 7S Gen 3 to a new processor, replacing the Snapdragon 778G. Instead of the Cortex-A78 and A55, significantly newer CPU cores such as the Cortex-A720 and A520 are used, which also support the Adreno 810 with a more powerful GPU. Samsung is dropping the RAM to 6GB and the internal storage to 128GB, which can be further expanded by the user with up to 2TB via a large microSD card.
7 Years of Software Updates
On the software side, the Galaxy Xcover 7 Pro now comes with a seven-year update guarantee for new major Android versions and security patches. Android 15 with One UI 7 adds select AI features from other series, including Circle to Search from Google, object cycling, and generative image processing. Samsung Dex, for using the smartphone as an Android PC with a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse, is also supported by Samsung.
IP68 and MIL-STD-810H certifications
The rugged design is intended to make the smartphone robust, offering IP68 and MIL-STD-810H certifications. This certifies the smartphone as being hand-proof and resistant to permanent immersion, but also resistant to extreme temperatures and air pressures, sunlight, humidity, chemicals, accelerators, and vibrations. Two freely programmable red keys in the housing provide quick access to important functions or apps. By default, the camera and flashlight are stored there.

If it gets louder on the construction site, background noise and feedback effects must be intelligently filtered. The smartphone has stereo speakers, which should be sufficiently loud even in high-intensity environments. The battery can be replaced
The back of the smartphone can be removed again without additional tools to access the replaceable battery. Samsung makes this slightly larger than the previous generation with 4,350 mAh and claims a 17-hour battery life. The Pogo pins, for example, allow businesses to use Samsung’s multi-charging station, which allows multiple devices to be charged simultaneously.
The screen remains the same as the familiar 6.6-inch display.
The front features a 6.6-inch TFT display with 1080 x 2408 pixels and 120 Hz. An AMOLED display, similar to other Samsung models, didn’t make the smartphone. The “Vision Booster” should allow for better outdoor readability, with Samsung giving a base value of 600 cd/m² for the panel. The Vision Booster is almost comparable to the brightness of a Galaxy S25 (test), which, under test, reached nearly 1,500 cd/m² in this area. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ should protect the display, as with its predecessor.
No more headphone jack
One feature is no longer included in the smartphone: the 3.5 mm headphone jack.
