Core Ultra 7 258V with dual heat pipe cooler
MSI uses the Core Ultra 7 258V with a TDP of 17 watts and promises an FPS on average 20% higher than that of its anonymous competitors. A cooling system called “Cooler Boost HyperFlow” with two heat pipes and two fans is intended to keep the Claw’s temperatures in the green range. Not only is the processor cooled, but air convection in the case is also used to keep all other components cool, according to MSI.

Larger screen in 16:10 format
Especially for the Claw 8 AI+ there is an IPS display corresponding to the name with 8 inches, 1920 × 1200 pixels (16:10) and 120 Hz, which supports VRR and should shine at up to 500 cd/m² . The new dimensions are 299 × 126 × 24 mm and weigh 795 grams.
Bigger battery and new WiFi
This in turn creates space for a larger battery, which with 80 Wh has significantly more reserves for gaming on the go. The connectivity on the case is, however, identical to its predecessor: there are two Thunderbolt 4, a microSD and audio, as well as a power button with fingerprint sensor. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 are offered wirelessly. With the optional MSI Nest dock, the Claw 8 AI+ also becomes a mini PC on the desk. Theoretically, it can also be expanded with external graphics cards via Thunderbolt 4.
MSI rethinks controllers
The newly designed analog sticks, bumpers (shoulder buttons), D-Pad, and triggers are also intended to improve the Claw 8 AI+ in terms of input devices, and the “Sandstorm” chassis also holds up more ergonomically in the hand than before.
Windows 11 with MSI Center M
MSI has also redesigned MSI Center M, the Claw 8 AI+’s user interface, to make its own game libraries easier to navigate. Thanks to Windows 11 Home, many gaming platforms can be used on the Claw, and even Android mobile games can be played on the handheld using the “MSI App Player”.
