GEFORCE 576.28 WHQL: The Latest Nvidia Driver Focuses on Bug Fixes
Nvidia’s latest graphics card driver is entirely focused on bug fixes. GeForce 576.28 WHQL doesn’t bring game-ready support for new games, new G-Sync-compatible monitors, or even new features. Instead, bug fixes are compiled from hotfix drivers that have been resolved.
Countless bug fixes and numerous hotfix drivers since Blackwell
With the GeForce driver in version 576.28 WHQL, Nvidia has once again released a “ColdFix” driver. After the driver was released in version 576.02 WHQL, two hotfix drivers were required. Once in version 576.15 and again in 576.26. Although driver 576.02 fixed many issues, the two hotfixes were intended to address pressing problems with the green graphics cards.
In particular, black screen issues in various situations, such as directly during driver installation or in connection with certain applications or games, have long been a concern for NVIDIA graphics card owners. There are no new G-Sync-compatible monitors, optimal graphics settings, or official support for new games, such as Oblivion Remastered (in the benchmark test). Fixed and Known Bugs
In addition to the 10 bug fixes from hotfix 576.26 and one bug fix from hotfix 576.15, there are still six new bug fixes. These again primarily affect Blackwell GPUs and address image flickering and freezes in various games and low idle. According to NVIDIA, Modern Standby should no longer lead to black screens, and microcontrollers should be a thing of the past. The latest new bug fix fixes a crash when rendering in Lumion 2024 with GEForce RTX 50 graphics cards.
The changelog points to drivers 576.28 for three errors. The Cyberpunk 2077 crash related to photo mode and path tracing was already known and was not located in version 576.02 WHQL. The other two bugs affect flickering in Ghost of Tsushima Directors Cut and stability issues in Monster Hunter Wilds. Error removed from list:
