Sony reveals when Ghost of Yōtei, the successor to Ghost of Tsushima (review), will arrive and, among other things, provides more details about the upcoming Samurai game with a trailer. It will be released on PlayStation 5 in the fall.
The trailer, titled “Onryō’s List,” reveals that six people killed the main character’s family and are now on their death list. Members of a gang are sought out and hunted throughout the game. The story, however, is supposed to be more than just revenge.
The developers have made the world even more open. It’s up to the player to track who you follow and which of the people is killed first. As in its predecessor, there will be other activities in addition to the main story—and once again, picturesque Japanese landscapes. These include collecting money, training in new martial arts, or gathering skills. With the ability to build campfires anywhere, exploration is also simplified: you can now save and continue anywhere.
Date, Price, and Versions
Ghost of Yōtei will be released on October 2, 2025, for PlayStation 5. Sony isn’t yet talking about a PC version, but since all the first-party games are now ported, it will only be a matter of time. The publisher wants to attract pre-orders with another mask for Atsu and seven PSN avatars with figures.
The standard version of the game costs around 80 euros. The Digital Deluxe Edition, for just under 90 euros, includes additional skins: a different color for the starting equipment, the horse and saddle, an amulet, a golden sword, and previous access to the Traveler’s Maps, which display statues with skill points. Those who spend 250 euros can also purchase a Collector’s Edition, which contains physical in-game items. These also include a smaller version of the heroine’s mask, which matches those in the Collector’s Edition of Ghost of Tsushima on a smaller scale.
