Global Delivery Issues: Additional Information on the Crucial P510 SSD Instead of the Planned Review

Today, the review of the new Crucial P510 SSD was actually supposed to appear on the computer base. However, due to the manufacturer’s delivery issues, this will have to wait a little longer: the model is not yet available. After all, more details and pricing can now be revealed.

PCIe 5.0 “Light”

The Crucial P510 was presented by Micron with for . It is the first SSD to combine Phison’s new E31T controller with Micron’s new 276-layer G9-TT-NAND. The P510 will read sequential throughput rates of 11,000 MB/s and write at 9,500 MB/s, so it sits in performance between high-end models with PCIe 4.0 (~7,000 MB/s) and PCIe 5.0 (~14,000 MB/s).

Tests delayed

However, the trade media cannot adhere to today’s scheduled test date because there is simply a lack of test models that simply haven’t arrived. Crucial refers to “unforeseen delays” without naming details.

Unfortunately, due to various circumstances, there have been unforeseen delays in the delivery of the P510 worldwide.

Crucial

Frugal Controller

The 4-channel E31T controller, manufactured in 7nm, is much more efficient than the E26, which has 8 channels and is much larger in 12nm, as is the case with the flagship Crucial T705 (test). According to the manufacturer, the Crucial P510 requires about 25 percent less power than previous Crucial SSDs with PCIe 5.0, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise. However, previously tested SSDs with the Phison E31T require less than 6 watts under load. Compared to a Crucial T700/T705 with 12 watts at peak, they save even more power than the Crucial P510 now promises.

Others combine the E31T with BICS8 Flash

Previously, the E31T was only available in conjunction with Kixia’s BICS8-TT-NAND. The controller debuted on the MP700 Elite (review), which reads at a maximum of 10,000 MB/s and writes at 8,500 MB/s, slightly slower than the new Crucial P510 with Micron memory. The Exceria Plus G4 (review) also uses Phison E31T and BICS8.

Models, Prices, and Availability

In the usual M.2 form factor with single-sided assembly, the P510 is “bare” or has a heat sink for additional load. The non-binding price recommendations for both models with 1 TB and 2 TB storage are as follows:

RRP: Crucial P510 1 TB CT1000P51SD8 €100.57 Crucial P510 2 TB CT2000P51SD8 €188.72 CRUCIAL P510 1 TB with Hampus CT1000P5SSD5 €112.40 CRUCIAL P510 2 TB with Hampus CT2000P51SD5 €200.55

Availability is still unknown. The publishers’ question about whether there are any delays in market launch has not yet been answered.
