After the information about the design of the Pixel 9a, the technical specifications of the Google smartphone expected for the new year are now widely known. The technical sheet comes from a mobile operator and is therefore probably accurate. Accordingly, the Pixel 9a will have a bigger battery, a new display, and a new camera.

Summary :

Slightly larger for a larger display

According to the technical sheet, the Pixel 9a will be a slightly larger smartphone than its direct predecessor, the Pixel 8a. The device is said to measure 73.3 × 154.7 × 8.90 mm instead of 72.7 × 152.1 × 8.90 mm. In the larger chassis, Google accommodates a larger display that increases from 6.1 to 6.3 inches. An OLED panel called “Actua Display” will again be used, which should reach up to 2,700 cd/m² at the top and 1,800 cd/m² across the entire surface. The Pixel 8a has a maximum brightness of up to 2,000 cd/m².

Bigger battery and faster charging

The larger housing also creates space for a larger battery. The mobile operator specifies 5,100 mAh instead of the previous 4,492 mAh, and wired charging via USB-C should also be faster with 23 instead of 18 watts. As before, 7.5 watts are specified for wireless charging.

Cameras from Samsung and Sony

There will also be a new main camera with 48 MP, f/1.7 and OIS. According to previous leaks, Google would do without the Pixel 9a’s camera bar and integrate the cameras more deeply. According to Android Headlines, the main camera uses the Samsung GN8 as a sensor, the ultra-wide-angle camera uses the Sony IMX712, which is also responsible for selfies.

The price should remain the same

The Pixel 9a should be presented again by Google in the spring. The Pixel 8a launched in early May this year, a week before Google I/O started. The Pixel 9a will be available in Obsidian, Porcelain, Iris and Peony colors and, like the Pixel 8a, will start at $499. In Germany, the Pixel 8a costs from 399 euros.
